Click Through Rate - SEO Video Blog

Welcome to this weeks SEO Video Blog, This week we are going to consider click through rates or CTR?

Most of the time when discussing click through rates it’s based on the information given by Google Adwords or other paid advertising services.

But, Google’s webmaster tools also has a click through rate feature which illustrates the clicks for your organic positions, when reviewing our own websites both crearecommunications.co.uk and crearedesign.co.uk displayed some interesting information.

Lets have a look at the facts and figures from webmaster tools..

<Video></video>

So you can see that the difference between just one position causes a dramatic change in the click through rate.

So what does this mean to your organic SEO campaign?, well..  we all knew it was important to be in the top 3 positions to get an effective return, but this also illustrates that users are most likely to click the first listing that they see.

We believe that as the SEO industry becomes more competitive, clients are will be demanding position 1 for their websites. This also relates directly to Google’s ethos, as the algorithm increases in intelligence, the less a user will have to filter out unrelated results, finding the desired result at the top of the page.

Thanks for watching.

SEO Content - Video SEO Tips

Script:

Always remember with optimisation of any type, content is king and can have great benefits for your SEO.

Also it is important to ensure you have included the correct keyword density – always ensure you have included keywords throughout the text of the script.

Thirdly, check for duplicate content.  If the search engines realise any of the content you are using has been duplicated elsewhere on the internet your site will be penalised.

By using RSS and other blogging methods, it is possible to update the content of your site on a regular basis, helping to boost the authority of your site.

Finally, contain links between different pages of your site based around your keywords.  This helps to optimise the individual pages your site might contain.

Video SEO Tips - The Importance of Titles

Over the past few years, the web-based video industry has exploded thanks to streaming video websites such as YouTube and the increasing speeds of broadband internet. As a result, the SEO Industry is beginning to realise the marketing possibilities of online video and how to achieve Video SEO effectively.

If you’re unfamiliar with the act of Video SEO, it’s essentially the process of optimising a video to help it rank in the major search engines and video indexing websites such as Google Video.

Throughout the next month we’ll be publishing a series of Video SEO Tips discussing how you can effectively optimise your own videos to help them appear in the Search Engines. In this week’s blog post, Nick Rinylo discusses the Importance of Video Titles when publishing your own Videos as part of an SEO Campaign.

SEO Video Blog - SEO Friendly Site Architecture #43

Script: Welcome to this weeks SEO Video Blog, we often use the term ‘SEO architecture’ used in our video blogs and throughout the SEO industry.

We believe that it is important to ensure the sites architecture clearly reinforces your search engine optimisation strategy.

Good site architecture allows the search engine crawl bots to easily index your site and prioritise content within your website.

The process is relatively simple, Nick has put together a tutorial which explains the way in which we believe you should approach the development of a website when considering SEO.

Ill show a couple of examples, starting with a small website that Creare built for elite windows. http://www.elitewindows.info/

You can see the range of products and services they offer from their navigation, the URL then reinforces this principle.

You can see that if we click through to the windows page, that the URL changes to http://www.elitewindows.info/windows.php. The same principle applies to the doors, conversatories and roofing product pages.

The optimisation then is consistent with this. If we query ‘Front Doors Reading’ which is optimised on the doors.php page we can see that the search result is the individual product page and that Google has highlighted and Identified the doors.php extension.

The second example i’ll use is a client called MR fire and security, http://www.mrfsgroup.com/. You can see we are in the /security-products/ section of the website.

All the products that MRFS supply are then organised with keyword rich file names. For examples the CCTV section is simply /cctv.php. The Fire Alarms page is simply /fire-alarms.php and so on…

The best advice we can give is if you have a large website and lots of products and services, treat you architecture like an eCommerce website.

Organised /category/sub-category/product-name.php this will allow Google to easily identify what each service and product relates too and ensure that they perform on a individual basis.

With large sites it is also recommended to use bread crumb trails, this helps usability and Google can return the breadcrumb results in the SERP.

You can see if we query ‘Creare Design Portfolio’ the location of the page is shown in a inline breadcrumb trail.

We hope this has been of some help, always remember to correctly use sitemaps to help crawl bots index all of the content on your website.

Check out the video blog we did covering HTML and XML sitemaps for more information.

Also we have also re-designed the Creare Communications blog at www.crearecommunications.co.uk/seo-blog/ so take a look, we would appreciate any feedback.
