This is a question that can be answered from various different angles, we know that many social bookmark sites, social media sites and blogs can provide free backward links. Is this then the primary reason to use of SMM (social media marketing)? My answer would be no, we at Creare want to create a brand name that represents excellences in both the results and services we provide.

Social Media Marketing is an excellent way to generate traffic to your site, through allowing other internet users to share information that you are providing for your specific industry. This way if you write a relevant article about search engine optimisation, social bookmark it and then it generates interest you have automatically generated an identity that benefits the brand of your company.

Part of social media marketing is often based on what can other users do for me? we if you know that they write blogs about your industry then this can encourage them to write similar articles and reference ones they have read previously (i.e. link to your post).

Participating in a certain activity or making particular friends that could benefit you in future, falls upon the social capital model. This may not be done consciously but does apply to the users in SMM sites.
