The Power Of Content And Why Your SEO Still Depends On It
We at Creare have written many blog posts about content and how it can make a difference to your SEO campaign, or the techniques to write successful copy. But why is content so important and what power does it hold to make a website money?
The Ongoing Struggle
There is an ongoing debate about how content is relevant to an SEO campaign and the authority that copy actually holds in the vast strategies of SEO.
Content holds what a lot of SEO techniques don’t; the opportunity to inform. Links don’t give consumers what they need in terms of telling them anything. Of course they are vital for getting a website where it needs to be for people to find it, but it’s the content and design that hooks a buyer and keeps them interested.
Onsite Vs External Copy
The content that is on a website is just as important as the content that is used to expose a business via articles and blogs. Writing about a company and finding ways to get this noticed does wonders and blows doubt that content marketing is dead, out the water.
This said, content has to be informative, honest and capture the attention of a consumer within the first paragraph. Failure to do so makes all those claims about content true, and the hard work that you’ve poured into your campaign has been futile.
Onsite copy has to reflect what a business is about with keywords at the back of the writers mind the whole time. As explained in ‘Are Keywords Killing You Content?’ the basis of what you write needs to attract the attention of those who will make you money. That’s not Google, that’s prospective buyers. Tell them what they want to know, not a Search Engine. But always keep in mind that the higher in the search engines you are, the more people will know of you.
The Final Countdown
And finally, keep your word count short and sharp. The power that content can hold is dependent on how people respond to your copy. Keep grammar, spelling and sentence structure tight and make sure that you reach the point you are trying to make in the first paragraph.
There are various reasons to why people dismiss copy as the least important aspect of an SEO campaign, but every aspect of SEO is based around content, it just needs to be nurtured and researched to keep its strength.
