Blogging Can Help Your SEO, But What Is The Best Way To Write Posts?
Things To Consider When Writing A Blog.
One of the best things about writing for a blog is that it is considered somewhat personal, you can write about anything you like, within reason, in your own style. Generally, there are no particular expectations from the reader and often that is what keeps them returning to your page.
Despite this many writers try to stick to a particular format when writing for their blog. As there are so few constraints when writing a blog it would be wrong to suggest that there is a particular way you should write, but here are a few pointers on how most writers tend to do it.
- Topic- As mentioned before, the joy that many people find in writing a blog is that they can write about whatever they like. However, many blogs have a particular subject matter this could be web design, SEO, or even shoes, it doesn’t matter, but once you have made that decision it is probably best to keep all of your blog posts relating to that topic. This improves the chance of readers returning to your site when they want to find out the latest information on that topic. This brings us onto the next point, the style of your writing.
- Style-There are two different types of posts that you could add to your blog, these are opinion or news based content. It is probably best to have a mix of the two, either way you should ensure that your text is informative and not just meaningless waffle, as they say in the industry, ‘Content Is King’.
- Length- The length of your post is quite important, there are no limits set-out, you could choose to write 200 words or even 2,000, yet similarly to style this all depends upon the point you are trying to make. If you can express it in a few lines then this is what you should stick to, but if it takes 2,000 words to get your point across then this is ok too. Just make sure that you cut out the unnecessary waffle then your audience will take the time to read through it.
- SEO for your blog- A blog is like any other website, to get readers visiting and leaving comments not only does the content have to be worth reading but the target audience need to know that the blog exists in the first place. In order to make those readers aware of the blog you should consider SEO. You should research the best key words and phrases that you would like to appear in the search engines for and then optimise your site with these in mind, making your blog keyword rich. They should be present in titles and the main body of the posts.
- RSS- Another way that you could get your audience returning to the blog is by integrating RSS into your web site. Essentially your blog is a news feed, by adding an RSS facility your readers could be updated of your latest posts, encouraging repeat visits and boosting potentially boosting the traffic to your site.
So these are just some of the points to consider when writing your blog, keep content concise, informative and remember your blog could be a key SEO tool, so make sure that it is keyword rich.
