Google Acquires Online Video Firm- How Can Videos Help SEO?
Using Videos As Part Of An Online Marketing Strategy
Recently, in the news there have been various stories about the deal between Yahoo and Microsoft. Well, I was browsing through the news online this morning and it seems another online giant has just spent in the region of $100 million, around £60 million, expanding their own businesses online video sector.
Google have reached a deal with online video firm On2, a company that specialises in video compression tools that make files just the right size to be used on the majority of PCs, mobile phones and a whole host of other gadgets available on the market today.
Just some of their influential clients include Skype, Sony and Adobe. Considering that Google owns video aggregator, YouTube, these tools could help to make the service even better.
So what is so important about online videos and are they useful from a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) point of view?
Here at The Creare Group we provide both website design and SEO to businesses of all sizes. One of the options that we offer our customers are videos which can be placed on the homepage of any site, whether an e-commerce site or a bespoke design.
A presenter explains all about the businesses products and services in a way that engages with customer without the need for pages of text.
These videos can not only make the website more appealing from the customers’ point of view, but they can also help towards the SEO of a website.
Videos can be beneficial to many people, for those that do not want to read through a large amount of text, essential information is conveyed quickly and efficiently, equally for individuals with hearing difficulties the script can be transcribed and subtitles shown.
Our Scripts are written by trained content writers, with an understanding of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), they make sure that the videos contain keywords, which can be picked up by search engines such as, Google and Yahoo.
At The Creare Group we also publish video blogs related to website design and SEO on a regular basis. Google Universal Search now has the capacity for users to filter their searches, choosing either videos, forums, images or web pages related to a search term. Again, this can be beneficial from an SEO perspective, as it means that users can be particular about the content that they view.
By incorporating videos into an online marketing strategy it could increase the chances of engaging with an even larger audience.
With the deal between Google and On2 it seems as though online videos could become even more influential in the web design and SEO community, something that we at The Creare Group are grasping with both hands.
